Characteristics of Top Dog Breeds

 Hy this is Dr Zahid Afzal from General Veterinary Hospital Lahore. Today I want to discuss briefly about the some dogs breeds and their characteristics. I have been asked a question by many clients and viewers that which dog breed is best for them, so here I would like to explain that its totally depend on you that for which purpose you are adopting a dog..? Following are the common purposes:

1. Play Breed for just playing with dogs

2. Security purpose, as security of house, farmhouse and farms. 

3. Illegal in some countries but for Dog fight

4. Hunting purpose

So when you are clear than you can easily choose your breed according your purpose. Some dog breeds are not good for human to take them as pets but some are highly recommenced for this purpose. I will discuss here one by one few breeds and their comparison with the purpose. 

1. German Shepherd:

German shepherds are highly demanding breed of dogs in Central Asia and America. There are two classes of this breed one is show class and second is work class. So if your purpose is to just adopt a pet for show off purpose and just for the cause of beauty than show class breed is for you. But if you also want to take some security task from your dog than work class is best for you. Although the German shepherds are playful but in some due to environmental stress, human behavior and tough routines could turn them into dangerous breeds. So if you are planning to take a German shepherd pup than this would be better for you that you train him/her according to your choice. 

2. Labrador

Labrador are considered as the most playful breed in the world, they are of two categories one is American Labrador and second one is British Labrador. There is nothing major different in them just their body markings and body shape. If your purpose is only to provide a relief to yourself and your kids than this is the most highly recommended breed to keep as pets in your home. This is the only large dog breed which can stay in your bedroom without causing any problem in your daily routine. 

3. Shitzu/Poodles/Pomeranian:

These are toy breeds and very loving breeds of dogs. These are recommended to be kept as pet if you have a family with kids. They are the most anxiety reliever breeds of dogs. 4. Pit bulls: 

Pit bulls are categorized into the most dangerous breeds of dogs throughout the world. It's the only breed of dog which will not be hesitate to bite his/her owner if not trained well, and even in some cases most trained pit bull also attacked their owners in recent history. So rarely any Vet would recommend this breed. 

5. Rottweiler:

Rotts are the breeds of dogs which are playful but some case they are more dangerous that any beast. So always keep in mind while adopting a rottweiler as pet that he/she need a complete training and guide to be kept as home pet. 

6. Dobermans :

These dogs are good enough but highly recomended for armed and law forces for crime investigations as they are more intelligent. But here is one important thing that they attach with only one or two persons otherwise they attack on third person which shows their non social behaviour. 

Conclusion:

Whatever is your purpose always remember that the every dog needs a basic training and ethics to learn and survive in our social circle of humans.
